The Gustav Beck Collection includes materials documenting Gustav Beck's genealogical efforts, personal correspondence, documents, memoirs, and a large amount of photo albums.

Clippings, book reviews and published commentaries concerning Hannah Arendt’s book "Eichmann in Jerusalem" and the controversy that it caused, in particular regarding the question of collaboration by Jewish communal organizations, notably the Reichsvertretung der deutschen Juden, and the role of such leaders as Leo Baeck.

This collection contains handwritten family trees and short typed reports compiled by Hanns Jäger-Sunstenau on the Anhauch, Arnstein, Eichthal, Fould, Goldschmidt, Haber, Königswarter, Morpurgo, Rothschild, and Schnapper families. All of these families were elevated into the nobility. The reports provide vital information on individual family members, a short abstract history of the family, and information on the circumstances of the family's ennoblement.

The Hans and Gerda Lindner family collection contains photographs, correspondence, finance and legal documents, a large stamp collection, plus a small amount of family papers. Prominent topics include daily activities, family vacations, and the Lindner family's as well as business's finances.

This collection consists primarily of hundreds of letters from Hans (Chanan) Mielzynski to his wife, Eva (Chawa), between 1940 and 1946. Mielzynski wrote from Sedom, where he worked in the potash plant, and Ashdot, where he did kibbutz-related work (1941-1944); while in the Jewish Brigade, training in Egypt and fighting in Italy (1944-1945); and in Europe after the war helping displaced Jews emigrate to Palestine (1945-1946).

The Hans David Blum Collection documents his research of the history of his family and consists of correspondence, documents, photographs, manuscripts and notes, genealogical tables and trees, and clippings. Additionally there is a small amount of personal materials as well.

The Hans David Blum Research Collection documents his research on the Jews of Breisach and his ancestors that culminated in a book entitled Juden in Breisach, that was published in 1998. The collection includes Hans David Blums’s research materials such as printed materials, documents (mostly copies), correspondence with archives and individuals, genealogical charts and tables, lists, and a large amount of notes.

This collection contains clippings of articles by Hans Martin Schwarz (1917, Hamburg – 2006, New York, better known as Martin Ebon), published between 1934 and 1938 in German-Jewish newspapers on a wide variety of subjects such as sports, emigration, the political situation in Germany, and religious attitudes of the young. It also contains reviews of his books "Einer wie Du und Ich" and "Heiteres, Besinnliches, Nachdenkliches."

Consists of the contents of two scrapbooks created by Harold Schein. Each scrapbook is primarily composed of news clippings and articles. Scrapbook #1, dated 1929-1946, 1964-1966, 1971, 1981, 1985, includes articles regarding archeological and scientific evidence supporting Bible events, Christian theology and philosophy pertaining to capitalism and modern developments, religion versus atheism, Christian and Jewish relations, and religious art. Additional articles concern Rev. Charles Coughlin and the Christian Front (1940), Passion plays (1934), analysis of Jews' situation in Germany (1932), Jewish identity (1960s), and Jewish religious decline (1970s). Information regarding a relative of Mr. Schein, Bernard Schein, who served as official shirtmaker to King Carol in Rumania is also available. Scrapbook #2 is dated 1932-1945 and focuses on the Bolshevik revolution, the situation in Germany, Japan and US relations, World War II, and the Senate's munitions inquiry (1934). Items of interest include an article describing the fourth Annual Women's Conference on Current Problems (1934), the "Minneapolis Star Journal" headline announcing Pres. Roosevelt's death April 12, 1945, and the "Minneapolis Daily Times" news of victory August 18, 1945.

The collection documents the work of Henry Besso and reflects various aspects of his professional life, personal research and writings in the field of Sephardic culture, Spanish language and linguistics, and Sephardic and Spanish history. Collection also documents Besso's involvement with Sephardic organizations and communities. Collection includes audio materials, brochures, booklets, clippings, conference procedures, correspondence, government publications, minutes, notes, photographs, printed matter, reports, speeches, and writings and translations by Henry Besso and others.

The Herbert Buky Collection documents the personal live of Herbert Buky and to a smaller extent the lives of other members of the Buky family. Included here are materials pertaining to Herbert Buky’s life in pre-war Germany, his immigration and his life in the United States after World War II. The collection consists of correspondence, documents, printed materials, unpublished manuscripts, and photographs.

This collection contains primarily materials (correspondence, press releases, contracts with the publishing house etc.) pertaining to Herbert Freeden's book about Jewish theater in Nazi Germany (Herbert Freeden: Juedisches Theater in Nazideutschland. Tuebingen: Mohr 1964.) Also included are typed manuscripts by Herbert Freeden mainly about the Jewish experience in Nazi Germany, as well as materials pertaining to Freeden's book about Jewish press in Nazi Germany (Herbert Freeden: Die juedische Presse im Dritten Reich. Frankfurt a.M. 1987.)

The Herbert Strauss Addenda contains subject files and writings from Strauss’ position as the executive director of the American Federation of Jews from Central Europe. These include correspondence, reports, newspaper clippings, newsletters and pamphlets, and writings, including manuscripts and dissertations in the field of German-Jewish history and related topics.

The Herbert Strauss Collection documents the life and professional activities of Herbert Strauss, writer, historian, and teacher. The collection includes correspondence, court procedures, documents, lists, manuscripts and lectures, notes, photographs, printed materials, and a small amount of teaching materials. Materials constituting the collection reflect various aspects of Herbert Strauss’ personal life, teaching, research and writings in the fields of German-Jewish history and relations, Anti-Semitism, and assimilation. The collection includes both, personal and professional materials related to Herbert Strauss, with personal being by far the smaller.

The collection consists of Hugo Ball’s correspondence with Ferdinand Schohl, review of Emmy Hennings' biography of Hugo Ball, and a musical score composed by Hugo Ball.

This collection includes restitution files of Hugo Wimdmueller’s clients and financial documents such as tax related materials. Hugo Windmueller was a lawyer in Virginia, who handled restitution cases amongst other cases. Materials included here consist of official correspondence between Hugo Windmueller, his clients, government institutions in Germany, and German and American banks.

Contains articles and writings by Irene S. Woods regarding her life in Berlin at the beginning of World War II, and in Boston, MA as a refugee. Includes reprinted letters written by Woods' grandmother, Jenny Pelz, to friends and family 1939-1941.

The collection contains various materials pertaining to Oskar Schüler, his wife Martha, and their daughter Irmgard Schüler.

Isaac Leib Goldberg Collection documents Isaac Goldberg’s active participation in the international Zionist movement. It also sheds light on his professional activities as a lawyer in the Russian Empire. The collection consists of circular letters, official documents, correspondence, court documents and Power of Attorney, leaflets, announcements, reports, minutes of meetings, financial reports and tables, balance sheets and Annual Reports, lists, and memoranda.

This collection documents the life of Isaac Zelig Zieman (1920-2007). Born into an Orthodox family in Riga, Zieman managed to escape Latvia in 1941 and spent much of the war in the Soviet Union. In Germany from 1945-1956, he worked with displaced persons and studied psychology, after which he emigrated to the United States. In New York City, he dedicated the remainder of his life to facilitating dialogue between groups with historical enmities. The bulk of the material relates to this work, from the 1970s-2000s, as a lecturer and group therapist focused on peace and understanding between groups such as Germans and Americans, blacks and whites, and Israelis and Palestinians. The collection also includes materials from Zieman's immediate post-war experience in Germany working with displaced persons and as a student in Munich.

Isidore Meyer was an editor (1940-1968), librarian (1940-1962) and archivist (1940-1968) at the American Jewish Historical Society and a rabbi at the Jewish Center of Bay Shore, Long Island (1937-1943). Also a historian, Meyer wrote and spoke on the use, study and impact of Hebrew language and texts during the colonial period in the United States. The collection documents his AJHS career, historical writing and research, rabbinical work, teaching experience and general professional activities. Materials include correspondence, manuscripts, notes, photostats, clippings, printed materials, photographs, slides and negatives.

This collection documents the academic, professional and private life of Jacob Barosin (1906-2001), a painter and artist of Russian-Jewish descent. Barosin was raised in Berlin, but he fled to France in 1933 and in 1943 survived a stint in the Gurs concentration camp. The collection primarily contains correspondence, ephemera, manuscripts, official documents, personal papers, and photographs.

The Jerome Agel Research Collection includes materials collected by Jerome Agel in preparation for the book Deliverance in Shanghai which was published in 1983. The book tells the story of Jewish immigrants in Shanghai during World War II.

The Jewish Press Agencies Collection consists of press reports that document the events of 1933-1935 in Nazi Germany, with a focus on the persecution of German Jews. The bulk of the material derives from reports of the Jewish Central Information Office, although Inpress and the Jewish Telegraphic Agency are also represented. Almost the entirety of the collection consists of reports, but there are also photocopies of various documents, timelines and a few publications.

The John H. E. Fried Collection contains legal briefs prepared by Fried as a legal consultant to the Nuremberg Tribunal. Manuscripts, legal briefs, clippings, offprints, and memoranda by Fried, Justice Robert Jackson, John J. McCloy and others, cover a range of topics including war crimes, National Socialism, international law, and human rights. The collection contains proceedings of war crimes trials, in particular those of the Nuremberg Tribunal. Also of interest are drafts and research notes by Fried for books on human rights and international justice.

The John and Thea Hochstadter Collection consists mainly of personal correspondence between the members of the Hochstadter family, correspondence regarding their efforts to collect restitution and a small amount of documents and photographs.

Joseph Bornstein was one of the most accomplished journalists of Weimar Germany. His criticism of the political and social conditions in Germany in general, and of the practices of German justices in particular, made him a strong opponent of the right wing and populist parties long before the Nazis took power in Germany in 1933. Immediately after takeover, Joseph Bornstein left Germany and settled in France where he worked for various German exile newspapers. After the war broke out, he left France and managed to emigrate to the United States where he worked for the Office of War Information. After the Second World War he became a literary agent and writer of non-fiction books. The material in the Joseph Bornstein collection contains material from the post-war period of his life until his death in 1952. It consists of manuscripts, research notes, and professional and personal correspondence. An important part of this collection is material related to Joseph Roth that contains some of his notes, his poems, and correspondence with some of his friends and publishing houses.

Joseph Roth was one of the most prominent Austrian writers of the first half of the 20th century. Particularly his novels and newspaper essays gained him the respect of contemporary critics. Joseph Roth's papers at the Leo Baeck Institute Archives consist of handwritten and typewritten manuscripts of novels, novellas, short stories, and essays, including mostly complete manuscripts of his works Die Hundert Tage (The Ballad of the Hundred Days), Büste des Kaisers (The Bust of the Emperor), and his 'Trozki' novel Der stumme Prophet (The Silent Prophet). Joseph Roth's journalistic work is also well represented. There are a few personal items and over one hundred photographs of Joseph Roth and his wife Friederike. The Joseph Roth collection also contains correspondence with family and publishers, clippings about Joseph Roth, and reviews of his work. The addenda mostly consist of invitations to conferences and exhibitions, and scholarly articles on Joseph Roth's work and life.
