The collection holds papers, photographs, documents and correspondence pertaining to four generations of the Altmann family. Topics of the collection are, among others, the lives of the family members in Austria-Hungary, in pre-war Austria, in the emigration process and in the United States. Part of the material focuses on the family’s genealogy. The collection comprises correspondence, memoirs, personal and official papers, family photographs, postcards and some notes.

The collection consists of clippings from West-German, Swiss, and US newspapers, as well as some correspondence, published materials and ephemera, describing various aspects of Jews in Germany after the Holocaust.

This collection documents the personal and professional life of aerospace engineer Kurt Heinrich Hohenemser (1906-2001) in Germany and the United States. Mainly comprised of diaries and correspondence, materials in this collection describe Hohenemser’s education in Germany, work at and dismissal from the University of Göttingen in 1933, work for the aircraft manufacturer Anton Flettner during World War II, attempts to regain his position at Göttingen, and his family’s immigration to and new life in the United States. Correspondence with family and friends throughout Germany includes discussion of the political, economic, and social situation in Germany both during the World War II and during the post-war and Cold War periods. Also included in the collection are official documents and correspondence pertaining to Kurt Hohenemser’s parents, the musicologist Richard Heinrich Hohenemser (1870-1942) and his wife Alice Matilda Florence Hohenemser née Salt (1879-1942).

The collection documents the life and work of the poet Moses Rosenkranz. It includes correspondence, manuscripts, general notes pertaining to his work, private photographs, and clippings.

This collection consists of documents of the Nothmann family, including personal correspondence and official documents, such as passports and certificates. A lot of the material is about or from the time of the Nazi persecution.

The collection contains various ephemera pertaining to the 20th century history of Jews in Germany and German Jews in Israel, including stamps, letters and postcards, cirulars and leaflets, and membership cards.

Over 270 items include: voluntary Jewish organization monthly dues stamps and seals; synagogue and Kosher labels; Berlin Community Council membership booklets; Jewish sport club certificates; multilingual stamps of the Harand Movement ‘against race hatred and human misery’ (including an autographed postcard photo of founder Julie Harand); and a notable collection of Jewish Veterans Relief Stamps of World War l (RJF). Jewish merchants and banks are also represented in colorful advertising labels and seals. Also included are several Nazi anti-Semitic items and post-World War II depictions of restored synagogues destroyed by Nazis.
