Collection contains primarily the papers created during the administration of Philip Slomovitz (president of the Association, 1945-1954), including: printed copies of the by-laws, typescripts of the minutes of meetings (1945-47), membership bulletins, press releases, general correspondence relating to the activities of the Association (dealing in part with unethical advertising practices of newspapers, 1951-1961), correspondence and reports of meetings with spokesmen for national Jewish organizations (1945-46), and correspondence concerning conventions of the Association (in 1949, commemorating the centennial of the Anglo-Jewish Press in America, containing correspondence with President Truman; in 1953, marking the 300th anniversary of the settlement of the Jews in America).

The Hans and Eleonore Jonas Collection provides documentation of the personal lives of Hans and Eleonore Jonas, better known as Lore Jonas, along with papers relating to the professional work and achievements of the philosopher and scholar Hans Jonas. In addition, the collection contains papers of members of the Jonas and Weiner families. The collection includes correspondence; photographs; articles and unpublished writings, including personal reminiscences and poetry; official documents; notes; sketches; speeches; and family trees.

The Steven Schwarzschild Collection documents professional activities of Steven S. Schwarzschild, researcher, philosopher, rabbi and teacher. It also documents (to a much smaller degree) the personal lives of Steven Schwarzschild and his wife Lily. The collection includes brochures, booklets, clippings, correspondence, notes, off prints, photographs, printed materials, and writings. Documents comprising the collection shed light on Steven Schwarzschild’s education, and reflect various aspects of Steven Schwarzschild’s involvement with Judaism, as leader of Jewish congregations in Fargo, North Dakota and Lynn, Massachusetts; his academic career, research and writings in the fields of philosophy and theology.
