Department stores

This collection contains lists of businesses (mostly clothing and department stores) owned by the Conitzer family, a short biography of Rudolf Conitzer, and several Conitzer family tree charts. An illustrated brochure from the late 1920s or early 1930s also offers some historical information on the family's businesses, as well as photographs of several of their stores in northern and eastern Germany.

The Gottschalk and Krakauer Families Collection provides documentation primarily on the immigration of family members of these two related families, but also documents the professional lives of family members along with other topics. The collection includes family correspondence, official papers and correspondence, material relating to the Molling & Co. department store, photographs, and notes.

Correspondence from family members to Heinz Katzenstein in Gelsenkirchen and New York, 1933; travel and emigration documents, 1933-1939, including correspondence with freight forwarders and menues of S.S. Bremen; memorabilia related to 25th anniversary of Katzenstein & Co in Gelsenkirchen, 1928; correspondence with and clippings and other information about former classmates; correspondence regarding social security claims in Germany, 1981; photographs.

This collection consists of letters exchanged between Henriette Levi and her children, especially with the family of her son Siegmund Levi and of her daughter Therese Gotthelft.

This collection concerns the "Aryanization" of the Schwarz department store (Kaufhaus Schwarz) in Salzburg, Austria. All materials are photocopies of the files found in the Salzburger Landesarchiv under Ar 037/45/97, Box 85.

This collection houses the papers of members of the Wronker family, including Max and Irma Wronker, Hermann and Alice (née Wronker) Engel, and Erich and Lili Cassel-Wronker. In addition, it holds a few items on the Warenhaus Hermann Wronker AG of Frankfurt am Main. Included in the collection are official papers, correspondence, postcards, guestbooks and other albums, photographs, offprints, and objects.

The Marion Rosenthal Biel Collection holds papers of Marion Rosenthal Biel, her husband Frederick (Fritz) Biel, and of some of their family members. Prominent in the collection are documentation of Marion's early life in Germany and of her life during the early 1940s in England, Wales, and New York, as well as Frederick's time as an interpreter in the United States Army during World War II. The collection includes diaries, military documentation, photographs and a photo album, a small amount of correspondence, family members' official documents, and various other papers.
