The Bernd and Annorte Zondek Family Collection holds papers of members of the extended Zondek family of Berlin, Jerusalem, and New York. Included are documents of Bernd and Annorte (née Kraschewski) Zondek; Birgit Zondek; and Hermann, Elly (née Lewy), and Gerda (née Wolfsohn) Zondek, along with a few others. Much of the collection consists of photographs of people and of artwork produced by family members. In addition, there are educational and a few official documents, some writings and professional documents, and biographical articles and obituaries.

Eduard Cohen Family Collection

The bulk of the collection contains family correspondence mainly in typescript. The most extensive part are the letters from Olga Cohen to her son Max from 1882 to 1893. The collection also contains a manuscript with notes of conversations Eduard Cohen had with Otto von Bismarck as well as a letter of condolence from Bismarck to Eduard Cohen's children. In addition, there are miscellaneous letters, memorabilia, and genealogical notes.

Emil Fröschels, 1930-1964

Scope and Contents From the Series:

Folders 13 and 14 pertain to the friends and extended relatives of Ernestine and Hans Rosenberg, respectively. The folders contain mostly handwritten correspondence about family life, particularly the dangers of wartime Europe, but Folder 14 also includes genealogical information about Hans Rosenberg’s family dating back to the late nineteenth century. Folder 15 contains a 1920s postcard from Renee née Goldschlaeger Kraessel, the maternal aunt of Ernestine Rosenberg, and sheet music from pieces that Renee wrote and co-wrote. Folder 16 contains restitution papers for Renee’s brother, Karl Goldschlaeger. Folder 17 includes personal and professional correspondence with Hans Rosenberg and typewritten lectures from Emil Fröschels, a speech and voice specialist at the University of Vienna and mentor to Hans.

The collection contains materials related to several members of the Kronstein/Neumann/Mueller families; both original documents as well as additional biographical information and excerpts from Gerda Lerner's book "A Death of One's Own". The bulk consists of correspondence, mainly written from Ilona Kronstein's exile in Nice to her daughter Gerda in the United States. In one letter, Ilona Kronstein describes a brief stay in the Gurs camp. Most of the correspondence has been summarized by John and Eva Englander, the summaries are included in the folders.

Hirschberg-Goldmann Family Addenda

The Hirschberg-Goldmann Family Addenda holds documentation on the lives and emigration of Harry and Leonor Harter, originally of Breslau. It additionally contains research, conducted by their son, into the history and genealogy of the Hirschberg and Goldmann families and their relations, as well as into the fate of his maternal grandparents, Siegfried and Käthe Goldmann. The collection includes material about the Breslau Jewish community, especially about its Storch synagogue and the Cosel cemetery (Legnica Street cemetery). The collection contains many copies of historical documents, extensive correspondence, photographs and a photo album, copies of articles related to the research of the collection, and some family trees.
