Naturalization records

Aaron Lopez (1731-1782) was a member of the Converso (converted) community of Portugal. In order to freely practice Judaism, he and his family left Portugal and relocated to British North America, settling in Newport, Rhode Island and later, Massachusetts. He began a successful mercantile business and eventually became a key supplier of the American revolutionary forces.

The collection contains numerous shipping records along with correspondence and accounts with merchants, mercantile families, and firms including Henry Lloyd of Boston, Henry Cruger of Bristol, George Hayley of London, William Stead of Sheffield and New Bedford whaler Joseph Rotch. The collection contains manifests, mercantile accounts, notations, correspondence and inventories of estates for several of the children of Aaron Lopez.

Collection contains a Russian passport for Hillel Kampawitz and his family; a naturalization certificate for Hillel Kamp; a ketubah for John Kamp, Hillel's son and his wife Anna Fae Kalish; and a 1915 census record for the Kamp family who resided in Brooklyn, N.Y.

This highly diverse collection contains material of various sources, times, and genres, from Germany, Austria, Eastern Europe and Argentina. The documents included range from correspondence, such as letters, postcards or telegrams, to emigration documents, such as ship lists and permits, to vital records, such as family registers, various certificates and awards, to a number of small publications, such as brochures, programs and clippings. There is also a number of Jewish devotionals, including Yahrzeit calendars, religious graphics and prayer manuals, as well as some ephemera.

Legal records contain census, employment, marriage (including Ketubahs), and naturalization records for Rebecca (Rae) Drucker Kuttenplum (1896- ) and her husband Louis Kuttenplum (1892- ). Of interest is an application Rae Kuttenplum signed to maintain her citizenship with the United States, having married a British subject. Also included are the couple's Workmen's Circle membership certificates.

The Laura Rubin Family papers are comprised of four generations of family photographs and certificates of marriage, birth, and death for members of the Rubin-Simpson family of Brooklyn, New York and the Simpson-Bernstein family of Schenectady, New York.

The collection contains papers including vital documents, membership cards, awards, medals, diaries, memoirs, diaries, manuscripts, legal papers, correspondence, business records, wills, genealogies and family histories regarding the Pinkus family, notable textile manufacturers in Neustadt (now Prudnik, Poland) in Upper Silesia, and their personal and business affairs. The family was also highly regarded for its support of civic and cultural affairs in the area, and corresponded with several notable cultural figures.

The Robison Family Fapers reflect various activities of Adolf C. and Ann Green Robison in civic organizations, Jewish communal life, Jewish national and international affairs, and individually in the arts. The collection contains information on the origins of the United Nations; and on aid to Israel before, during, and after the War of Independence. The materials include correspondence, memoranda, minutes, reports, financial documents, newspaper clippings, photographs, diaries, scrapbooks, musical scores, and play scripts.
