Picture postcards

The collection consists of materials relating to Jewish religious life in Europe from the 1830s to the 1930s. Topics include: marriages, births, divorces, deaths, bar mitzvahs, holidays, the Sabbath, daily customs, ritual slaughter (shehitah), ritual baths, mezuzahs, prayers, rabbis. Items include: marriage contracts, divorce deeds, wedding invitations, birth announcements, bar mitzvah speeches, New Year's cards, correspondence, photographs.

The Forst and Levy Family Collection holds the papers of members of the Forst and Levy families, ancestors of Susan Schomer. A large portion of the collection is made up of the World War I correspondence of the Forst family. In addition the collection includes later correspondence of Joseph Levy, paper money, genealogical notes, affidavits of support, restitution correspondence and other materials.

This collection comprises materials related to Hugo Fuchs, rabbi of Chemnitz from 1907-1939. Included here are are a small amount of his correspondence and some of his published writings. In addition, this collection holds visual material on Jewish places and themes and some items pertaining to the Goeritz family.

This collection contains the correspondence of Dr. Irene E. Barbasch written mainly in England during and just after WWII, as well as photographs and other documents pertaining to her relationship with Dr. Lilian P. Singer of Brno (Czech Republic).

The Lichtwitz Family Collection documents the professional lives of the physician Jakob Lichtwitz and his son Leopold. There is some additional material on Rabbi Max Freudenthal of Dessau. The collection includes official documents, correspondence and certificates as well as a few invitations and a postcard.

This collection holds papers, correspondence and visual material of Benno and Aenne Schwabacher (née Dannenberg) and their ancestors. Prominent topics are Aenne and Benno Schwabacher's vacations, their emigration from Germany and their immigration to the USA. The papers in this collection include a vast amount of visual material (predominantly photos), official documents, most of which related to the Schwabacher’s emigration and immigration as well as quite lot of correspondence.

This collection consists largely of printed materials, especially postcards and stationery, many of which Adler appears to have collected during a journey to Europe in 1929-1931. Also present is correspondence and travel permits.

The Walter Grossmann Collection contains the papers of this physician. More than half of the collection consists of correspondence. Other papers include certificates, newspaper clippings, sketches, notes, photographs, family papers, and material on the Werner-Siemens-Realgymnasium.
