This collection contains the correspondence and personal papers of Anne Fischer. The bulk of the material consists of nearly five decades of continuous correspondence between Anne Fischer and Hermann Simon. Primary topics of the collection are Arthur's life in Switzerland towards the end of World War II and the decades immediately after, correspondence with friends who were also Jewish refugees from Germany after the war, and Arthur Rath's life decisions following the displacement of his family during the war.

Eugen Kullmann Estate Collection

Abstract

The Eugen Kullmann Estate Collection contains documentation of the professional life and personal connections of the philosophy and religion professor and scholar Eugen Kullman. Much of the collection is made up of his correspondence from others, but there are also many notes related to his teaching and research along with professional and official documents. Notes and papers of the philosopher Karl Joël also form a significant portion of this collection. The collection includes notes such as research and lecture notes as well as notebooks; extensive correspondence from others, including family, friends, and colleagues to Eugen Kullmann; and official, professional, and personal documents.

The collection contains the correspondence between the writer and artist Rafaello (Lello) Busoni and the violinist Gerhard Meyer-Sichting from 1955 until Busoni’s death in 1962. Also included are diary entries; drawings; poems; and photographs. The majority of the materials relate to the creative and scholarly work of the two artists, as well as their familial life and their personal thoughts or opinions about art exhibitions, theater, and opera visits.

Hans Morgenthau Collection

Abstract

The first part of the collection (Series 1 = Personal documents) contains personal and official documents such as certificates, student and fraternity papers, visas, and affidavits. Furthermore, the collection includes the Spanish-American correspondence concerning the attempt to retrieve the Morgenthaus’ belongings from Spain. (The Morgenthaus lived in Spain from 1935 to 1937 and they left Spain at the beginning of the civil war.) The second part of the collection (Series 2 = Correspondence) consists of personal and official correspondence, including letters by family, friends and colleagues to Hans or Irma Morgenthau, as well as letters by the Morgenthaus themselves.

This collection consists primarily of letters from Ilse Glaser Dean to her later husband, Eric Henry Dean between 1952 and 1964. It also contains many photographs of the Deans and their relatives and friends from the 1930s until the 1970s. Additionally it holds correspondence by Wolfgang Schwerin to Ilse and Eric Dean between 1952 and 1988 and a collection of official and personal documents.

Inge Worth Estate Collection

This collection documents the life of Inge (née Josephsohn) Worth (1922-2016), born in the Free City of Danzig, Germany (now Gdansk, Poland), who immigrated with her parents to New York City in 1938 and then to Nebraska in 1947 with her first husband. Series I documents Inge’s life in Germany and its aftermath. Series II highlights Inge’s two marriages and milestone birthdays for both Inge and her second husband, Peter Worth. Series III chronicles Inge’s life in Lincoln. Series IV highlights Inge’s extensive travels throughout Europe and the United States. Series V includes general correspondence and greeting cards from mostly unknown senders.

The Kurt Hirschfeld Correspondence Collection largely contains correspondence sent to theater director Kurt Hirschfeld by authors and dramatists as well as personal acquaintances. Much of the collection centers around the production of theatrical works as well as news of his correspondents, among whom numbered well-known German-language dramatists and authors. A few letters of Hirschfeld's as well as letters to his wife following his death are also included, as are some unpublished manuscripts of poems and essays of his correspondents.
