Arthur Salz Collection

Abstract

Arthur Salz was a professor of economics and sociology at the University of Heidelberg from 1916 until 1933, when he was forced to leave Germany. After spending a year at the University of Cambridge, Salz became a professor of economics at the Ohio State University from 1934 until his retirement in 1952. This collection focuses solely on Salz's academic work; there are no personal papers. Included are drafts and finished publications by Salz on economic theory and methodology as well as social and political policies mainly in Germany and the United States from World War II to the beginning of the Cold War. Series I consists of unpublished papers such as notes, drafts, and manuscripts, and Series II holds Salz’s finished publications.

This collection holds the documents of Ismar Frost, his wife Rose Frost (née Wegner) and their family. The collection consists of private correspondence, professional and official correspondence, a large amount of restitution documents, personal documents and family photographs. It also holds Ismar Frost’s and other’s writings – fiction and non-fiction.

Abstract

The focus of this collection is on the experiences of Otto Neubauer (1907-2000) and his family members from 1938-1945 with a particular emphasis on their efforts to secure emigration visas for Maximilian Neubauer, Ernst (Elias) Neubauer, and Frieda Weil. Most of the collection consists of correspondence. Other materials include a diary, a cookbook, limited immigration and restitution documents, and records of Otto Neubauer’s schooling, apprenticeships, and employment.
