The Salier Family Collection holds papers of members of the Salier family as well as related families, such as the Alexander, Lipmann, and Lehmann families. The collection consists primarily of official, educational, and professional documents of family members, along with a small amount of family correspondence, a few photographs, family writing, newspaper clippings and articles, a cookbook, and a friendship album.

The core of the collection is a compilation of letters of the Salomonsohn family, mostly surrounding Gedalja Salomonsohn's untimely death. Correspondents include Gedalja Salomonsohn, his wife, Ernestine Salomonsohn, his parents, Rabbi Schachne and Rachel, and others. Also included are essays and letters by Rabbi Schachne and others on religious law, as well as documents, translations of twelve letters into English and German, a family tree compiled from the information in the letters, and a thorough summary description of the collection.

The Samton Family Collection documents the lives of members of the Samton (Szamatolski) and Fiegel families. It includes material on the education and professional work of Henry Samton, the Adolph Fiegel paper factory, the last days and estate of Emil Fiegel, the genealogy of the Fiegel and Scharff branches of the family, and other topics. The collection includes personal, legal, and professional correspondence; official documents; a small amount of photographs; personal papers; a cookbook; a few newspaper clippings; family trees and genealogical research; and some financial documentation.

The Sartorius Family Collection holds documentation on the history of the Sartorius family, along with its related families. Most of the collection consists of family trees and correspondence concerning family genealogy, although memoirs and biographical articles are also present, as are a number of family photographs. The collection especially provides information on the family's origins in Germany and lives in the American South, including family members' service in the Confederate forces during the Civil War, in addition to some information on parts of the family who resided in France.

The collection holds mainly vital and other original documents pertaining to the Gruenfeld and Schafranik families from Moravia.

The Schickler-Rosenbaum Family Collection documents primarily the life of Harry Schickler during his service in World War I for the German Army, by holding his written memoires and photographs. The collection also contains photographs of the Schickler and Rosenbaum families; various or unidentified photographs; and other documents.

Photographs of Ruth Schmidt Hesse and her family and life in Germany from 1919-1937. Also included are photocopied pages from the book, 'Jüdische Familien in Meschede' concerning the Hesse family.

The collection contains primarily documents pertaining to Carl (Karl) Seidenberger (1882-1943), such as vital and other official records and correspondence. Also included are papers of his wife, Else Seidenberger née Sondhelm (1897-1996).

The collection holds autographs, correspondence, music scores, official documents and photographs pertaining to the pianist and composer Selma Berliner.

The Semi Uffenheimer family collection contains the papers of Semi Uffenheimer and his famliy, and documents the effects of Nazi persecution on their lives, his emigration to Argentina and the fate of his mother Anna, his father Adolf and his sister Flora, who were deported to the concentration camp of Gurs, France. The collection also holds information about other members of Semi’s family. Much of the collection is correspondence between Semi and his sister, focusing on the family’s life in Germany and later in the concentration camp of Gurs. Furthermore the collection contains genealogical research documents such as family trees; documents relating to Semi’s marriage search; and some photographs and postcards.

This collection is primarily comprised of administrative materials, journal issues, editorial content, and interviews. Interviews are transcribed for inclusion in editorial content. The collection was pre-arranged by the organization prior to donation.

While our collection is arranged archivally in its original order, Stanford's Berman Jewish Policy Archive offers the ability to search the Sh’ma Journal database by article title, author, or keywords. Cross referencing these two collections increases discoverability and makes the Sh’ma collection more accessible to all users.

Each entry in Stanford’s database contains a selection of keywords, or “topics”. A keyword search will typically yield a range of files within the scope of your chosen topic. For example: entering “kosher” into the search bar will retrieve any files containing “kosher” as a topic, as well as files containing shared keywords such as “food,” “Jewish law,” and “tradition”. The ability to cast a wider net allows for the discovery of more resources and can be particularly helpful when conducting preliminary research.

The Sh’ma Journal collection at AJHS allows the user to browse the journal’s complete run in chronological order. Each volume has been digitized as a single entity and can be accessed by issue number, rather than individual articles. Once the user has identified a relevant article through a keyword search in the Stanford database, they can then locate the complete publication in the AJHS collection and continue their research from there. Likewise, the user might identify an article or topic of interest within the AJHS collection and then utilize the Stanford database to locate related articles through a keyword search.

This collection consists mainly of materials related to the restitution claims of the Weinberger family members who owned a group of grocery stores in Berlin from the early 1920s until its forced closure in 1936. These materials include correspondence, legal papers, inventories, and financial records. Also included are some personal papers of Adolf Weinberger as well as speeches and photographs from a memorial ceremony.

The collection includes mainly photographs of Siegfried and Gertrude Bloch as well as several other unidentified people. The collection holds a few official documents referring to Siegfried and Gertrude Bloch.

The collection includes official and personal documents pertaining to Sigmund, Selma and Erna Weinberger as well as photographs of the family, World War I sites and medical staff.

The collection contains materials relating to the Sigo and Else Baum family. The bulk of the collection is made up of photo albums documenting everyday life of the family. Other materials in the collection include, correspondence, official documents, clippings, and an autograph album.

This collection consists of documents of and about the Sobel family, including the family's genealogy, correspondence (primarily about the family's history), family reunions, a detailed will of a family member, and photocopies of photographs.

This collection contains personal documents of Sonia Marder Better. The materials include correspondence; official documents; transcripts of school records; poems; notes; and photographs. The majority of the materials relate to the correspondence between Sonia and her parents; documents relating to her migration the United Kingdom and USA; as well as pictures that document the life of Sonia Marder Better and her family.

This collection includes documents related to the activities of Barbara Staudacher and Heinz Högerle pertaining to the former Jewish community in the village of Rexingen in Baden-Württemberg, Germany.

Correspondence, official documents and clippings pertaining primarily to Bernhard and Gertrud (née Eichengrün) Stein.

This collection contains documents related to the Suess (Süss) and Hochstaedter (Hochstädter) families of Lampertheim. Most of the documents are from the early 19th century.

The collection contains correspondence mostly authored by Stephanie and Franz Pisker, dispatched from Vienna, Austria and the Jewish ghetto in Opole, Poland to their daughter Susan (née Herta) in America, before Franz and Stefanie were killed in the extermination camp of Sobibor. Also included are official documents and letters pertaining to their unsuccessful attempt to immigrate to the United States and the questionnaires by the Austrian Heritage Collection of Susan and her husband John H. Graham.

The Suzanne Schrag Collection holds papers of Suzanne (née Fuchs) and Paul Schrag, as well as papers of family members, especially Suzanne's parents and Paul's maternal uncle Nathan Sulzberger. Much of the collection focuses on the lives of family members, especially as documented in their extensive family correspondence. Prominent is also the unpublished writing of Paul Schrag and Nathan Sulzberger, notably the memoirs of Paul Schrag and short stories of Nathan Sulzberger. Some official documents, especially those pertaining to the education of Paul and Suzanne Schrag are also present, along with a few photographs, notes on genealogy, and other papers.

The Tarnowski Family Collection provides documentation on the lives of Tarnowski and related family members' lives during the late 1930s and 1940s. The bulk of the collection consists of personal correspondence sent to Klaus Günther Tarnowski in Sweden from 1939-1942 but documentation, including official correspondence from German government offices, is also present on property of the Tarnowski and Friedmann families. Most prominent among the collection's personal correspondence are Georg, Marie, and Hans Tarnowski, as well as Betty Friedmann.

This collection forms a memoir of the lives of Lilo Goldenberg and her family members through essays and documentation. The documentation includes papers such as official and educational papers, family correspondence, and newspaper and magazine clippings, and works with the extensive essays to document the experiences of Lilo Goldenberg and her family.

The Victoria (Zetlin) Russman Pordes Collection holds the correspondence, personal, and professional papers of Victoria Pordes, along with other members of her family, especially her sister Anna (Zetlin) Jarosik. Much of the collection consists of correspondence, notably the personal family correspondence between Zetlin siblings. In addition, the collection includes official, and educational papers, postcards, photographs, scrapbooks, tourism materials, immigration and citizenship papers, notebooks, address books, diaries, and other items.

The bulk of the collection consists of documents of the Wald family. Most of them were used to get American visas or citizenship. A body of correspondence is also part of the collection. The focus of these letters concerns emigration / immigration, and the possibility of fleeing Germany.

The collection contains various materials pertaining to the Wallach family, collected and edited by Else Levi-Mühsam (a decedent of the family), and comprises three folders.

The lives of Walter and Hedwig Grossmann are documented in this collection through both textual and visual records. Series I focuses on the former, specifically correspondence and educational records. Series II shows the life of the couple, their families, and friends through photographs, with a particular emphasis on the Grossmanns’ travels.

The Wartensleben-Levi-Rosenbaum-Klippstein Collection pertains to the genealogy and history of these related families. Included are genealogical tables and photocopied documents. Photocopies consist of a narrative history of the family, photographs, clippings, and official documents such as birth, marriage, and death certificates.

The collection includes photocopied and original official documents, correspondence, genealogy and photographs of the Goldman and Weil families, as well as some materials pertaining to the Schaap family.
