Israel Cohen Papers
This collection contains documents pertaining to Israel Cohen's role as author, reporter, Zionist leader, as well as his profound interest in documenting and reporting on the changes in European Jewish life between the wars. The collection is comprised primarily of notes, correspondence, clippings, and manuscripts of books about Zionism and topics in Jewish history, articles and reports on Jewish life in Austria, England, France, Germany, Hungary, Lithuania, Poland, Portugal, Rumania, Russia, Spain, the Balkans, and North Africa, circa 1910-1930s. The manuscripts of works on Jewish history include biographies of Jewish personalities and a report on the Czernowitz Yiddish Language Conference of 1908.

Jacob Shatzky Papers
Jacob Shatzky (1893-1956) was an historian, literary and theater critic, editor, bibliographer, lexicographer, lecturer, teacher and librarian. The Papers of Jacob Shatzky cover the period of 1910-1960's and reflect to different degrees all aspects of his activities. Some papers of Jacob Shatzky's wife, Ida, consist for the most part of materials relating to his death. Manuscript and other materials relating to memorial books published posthumously in commemoration of Jacob Shatzky, such as the Shatzky Book, (Buenos Aires, 1957) and Yakov Shatzki in Ondenk, (New York, 1957) constitute another significant part of the collection.

Jewish Community Hour (Chicago, Illinois) Collection
The collection contains scripts for the broadcasts, ranging from 1976 to 2004. The scripts are mostly handwritten with some typewritten excerpts. There is a small amount of correspondence related to the program, some with advertisers and members of the Jewish community, and a small amount of correspondence related to Mr. Finkel’s professional career in public relations.
Jewish Family and Children's Service (Detroit)
An affiliate agency of the Jewish Welfare Federation in Detroit formerly called the Jewish Social Service Bureau (JSSB).
This collection consists predominantly of records of the Jewish Social Service Bureau and, to a much lesser extent, of records of the Jewish Family and Children's Service (JFCS). The bulk of the collection consists of records of individual cases which were processed by the JSSB. Additionally, there are administrative records which include the following: general correspondence, 1926-1963; minutes of staff and committee meetings, 1924-1958. Records of various institutions which at some point merged or were affiliated with the JSSB, such as the Resettlement Service, Jewish House of Shelter, Jewish Child Placement Bureau, Hebrew Orphan Home.
Jewish Folklore Materials
The collection consists of miscellaneous materials pertaining to Jewish folklore and includes the following: Materials relating to YIVO Projects: samples of Yiddish dialects recorded on sound discs by Beatrice Silverman-Weinreich in 1948 and 1949 during her conversations with informants from Eastern Europe; materials from the Passover Survey, conducted by Beatrice Silverman-Weinreich in 1949. Entries for the contest about the symbolic meaning of the number '7' according to Jewish tradition, 1953. Collections of proverbs and sayings. Replies to a questionnaire from the *Jewish Daily Forward* about Jewish customs, 1945. Folk poetry, mainly in the style of *badkhones* (rhymes performed by a *badkhan* - wedding entertainer). Samples of *ketubot* (marriage contracts), *t'noyim* (engagement contracts), divorce letters, amulets, etc.

Joel Zack Papers
The collection is photographic in nature, and consists of over 3,000 color slides of approximately 50 Romanian synagogues as they appeared in c. 1995. Among the several localities represented are Arad, Botosani, Bucharest, Caransebes, Cluj, Craiova, Dorohoi, Iasi, Oradea, Satu Mare, Sighet, and Timosoara. Also included are blueprints, floor plans, and general comments relating to these synagogues, as well as Romanian-language newspaper clippings and printouts pertaining to the synagogues and local Jewish communities, 1994-1995.
Joseph A. Rosen Papers
Joseph A. Rosen was an agronomist and official of the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee. In the 1920s and 1930s he organized and coordinated relief activities for impoverished Jews in the Soviet Union. Joseph A. Rosen was a director of the American Jewish Joint Agricultural Corporation (Agro-Joint) that tried to develop Jewish settlements and assisted with organization of Jewish factories, cooperatives, schools, and health care facilities. All these subjects are covered in this collection. These are the papers of Joseph A. Rosen in his official capacity as a Director of the Agro-Joint. The collection contains agreements between Agro-Joint and the Soviet government, reports, and field observations of the agronomists and officials of the relief organizations, particularly of the Agro-Joint, technical reports and documentation necessary for development and financial sustainability of the Jewish settlements. Maps and landscape plans are also part of this collection.

Joseph Perkins Chamberlain Papers
This collection contains the papers of Joseph Perkins Chamberlain, a professor of law who worked with many refugee aid organizations during the 1930s and 1940s. The papers reflect the work of Chamberlain and the organizations in rescuing and assisting refugees from Europe during this time. Although the bulk of the documents consists of correspondence, the collection also includes minutes of meetings, reports, statistical information, clippings, booklets and transcripts of speeches.
