Camp Massad Records

Founded by Shlomo and Rivka (Wolman) Shulsinger, Camp Massad was the pre-eminent Hebrew camp in the United States. The collection, comprised of material donated by former staff, counselors, and campers contains administrative records, correspondence, newsletters, play scripts, photographs, oral histories and movies.

Carl Boschwitz - Hermann Leubsdorf Collection

The Boschwitz papers are focused on Carl Boschwitz's efforts with the Prisoners of War Relief Committee during World War I. The Leubsdorf papers trace the lineage of the Leubsdorf Family, notably related to the family of Heinrich Heine, and also include an eighteenth-century prayer book.

CENTRA Collection

Abstract

The Collection contains correspondence of CENTRA, the Council of Jews from Germany, the Irgun Olej Merkaz Europa, the Leo Baeck Institute in Jerusalem, and others. Topics include the Spanish translations of LBI publications and the collaboration of the Council of Jews from Germany with CENTRA. Mentioned is the possibility of establishing a permanent representation of the Leo Baeck Institute in Buenos Aires. A point of concern is the preservation of the German-Jewish heritage in Latin American congregations and organizations of CENTRA. Included are various materials on CENTRA's congresses as well as completed questionnaires about the German-Jewish communities and institutions in South America.

Charlotte and Leo Landau Collection

This collection primarily contains correspondence between Leo Landau and his wife Charlotte Landau (née Mühsam). During their respective frequent travels, Leo for his legal work and for recuperation at spas, and Charlotte for the Jüdischer Frauenbund, they often wrote almost every day. The collection also contains some other correspondence, personal materials, and documents concerning Leo Landau's lifelong involvement with Jewish organizations such as the B'nai B'rith lodges in Lübeck and Haifa and the Israelitische Gemeinde Lübeck, and Charlotte's membership in the Lübeck city council from 1919-1921.

Collection Management Records in the Hadassah Archives

Abstract

This record group documents the creation, management, and use of the Hadassah Archives and provides valuable contextual information for researchers, current managers, and future managers of the Hadassah Archives. As an organization, Hadassah created active records of business that were housed in its Central Files department. In the 1950s, Hadassah began the process of creating an official archives, precipitated by a project to locate and compile sources for a biography of Hadassah founder, Henrietta Szold, on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of her birth. This record group documents three specific periods of custodianship—the 1980s, 1996-2011, and 2015-2016—and the various archivists who managed and shaped the archives during those years. RG 23 includes born digital, digitized, and paper material.

Collection of Yiddish Literature and Language

Abstract

This collection consists of the correspondence of Zalman Reisen, and correspondence to the Union of Yiddish Writers and Journalists in Vilna. In addition, it contains fragments of literary collections which were part of the YIVO Archives in Vilna before 1941 and of materials which originated in Jewish institutions of higher learning in the Soviet Union, specifically the Institut Far Yidisher Proletarisher Kultur (Institute for Jewish Proletarian Culture) in Kiev and Invayskult in Minsk. The collection was formed in the YIVO Archives in New York ca. 1950. The bulk of the collection comprises files on about 600 Yiddish writers from Eastern Europe consisting of autobiographical notes and letters, biographies, bibliographies, manuscripts and typewritten copies, newspaper clippings, commemorative materials, announcements about lectures.

An issue of TDSA Today (Spring 1990) and an invitation to the Yeshiva's annual dinner in 1993 is also available.

Collection consists of marriage and conversion certificates, financial statements, flyers, newsletters, and programs issued by Congregation Kenesseth Israel. One folder is devoted to bulletins concerning other Jewish organizations in Minneapolis, including the Jewish Home for the Aged of the Northwest, Bloomenson Foundation, and Jewish Community Center of Greater Minneapolis. Miscellaneous news clippings pertaining to Jewish life and Israel are also included, as well as a 1954 pamphlet titled "You are Not Alone," to assist parents of retarded children. The pamphlet was issued by the State of Minnesota, Department of Public Welfare.
