The collection contains numerous personal papers, manuscripts and correspondence with explorers and geographers. The personal papers follow Philippson’s career as professor in Bonn and in Halle.

Information on various topics, especially immigration and emigration during the 1930s, Jews and the German economy, and Marxist economics will also be found here.

David Friedman (Friedmann; 1893-1980) was an artist in Berlin. During the Nazi Holocaust, he was incarcerated in the Lodz Ghetto and Auschwitz. He resumed his artistic career immediately after the war and then immigrated to the United States. His papers include artwork, memoirs, and essays focusing on his experiences in the Holocaust.

The Eric Zielenziger Collection includes materials dealing with various members of the Zielenziger family. The bulk of the collection consists of Ruth Zielenziger’s teaching materials. Materials dealing with other members of the family include vital and school documents, certificates, financial documents, some family correspondence, genealogical tables, and a large number of Kurt Zielenziger’s manuscripts.

The collection consists of the correspondence, personal documents and family photos of Erica Furnberg, her mother, and daughter. A large part of the correspondence deals with Erica's attempts to help her sister Magda to emigrate from France to the USA.

The collection contains documents and correspondence of the Fleischer and Steiner families. Prominent topics are the Fleischer's family business as well as restitution and inheritance matters. The papers in this collection include a vast amount of correspondence, business and restitution papers, as well as some documents regarding immigration.

The collection holds the professional and private documents of George Harry Asher. The emphasis is on correspondence, writings and official papers. Advertising proofs reflect Asher's work and career. Prominent among the material is an autobiographical sketch and correspondence between Asher and his mother, shortly before her deportation in 1941. The collection also holds material, such as correspondence, manuscripts and articles about Oskar Maria Graf, a close friend to Asher.

This collection contains mostly Hannelore Daniel’s diaries which reflect her everyday life, childhood memories, and Holocaust experiences as well as her creative writing on similar topics. Most of the material is written in old German script.

The Harry Kranner Fiss Collection documents the life of Harry Kranner Fiss, especially highlighting his life in Vienna, Austria, in the 1930s, as a translator for the American military's prosecution team at the Nuremberg Trials in 1945, and his professional career. A smaller amount of material relates to the Kranner/ Fiss family and to the related Römer, Singer, and other families. The collection contains many manuscripts and drafts of articles, novels, and poetry; diaries; extensive photographs and photograph albums; correspondence; notes; official documents; programs; and other materials.

The Helen and Eva Hesse Collection holds material on the Hesse family of Hamburg. Most notable in this collection are the diaries of Helen and Eva Hesse, created by Wilhelm Hesse, which document the sisters' childhood. In addition, the collection includes scrapbooks and photograph albums, some of Wilhelm Hesse's educational papers, and correspondence related to immigration.

The collection mainly consists of Herbert Jonas' and his family members' private correspondence and personal documents. There are also some writings, photographs and a collection of newspaper clippings.

This collection consists of the personal papers of the Hochherr family of southwestern Germany. Materials include vital records, photographs, a genealogical chart, a family history, official records of family members’ deportations and deaths in extermination camps, an account of life in Nazi-occupied Holland, and an account of an escape to Switzerland. With the exception of the photographs, the collection consists entirely of photocopies.

This collection documents the life of Isaac Zelig Zieman (1920-2007). Born into an Orthodox family in Riga, Zieman managed to escape Latvia in 1941 and spent much of the war in the Soviet Union. In Germany from 1945-1956, he worked with displaced persons and studied psychology, after which he emigrated to the United States. In New York City, he dedicated the remainder of his life to facilitating dialogue between groups with historical enmities. The bulk of the material relates to this work, from the 1970s-2000s, as a lecturer and group therapist focused on peace and understanding between groups such as Germans and Americans, blacks and whites, and Israelis and Palestinians. The collection also includes materials from Zieman's immediate post-war experience in Germany working with displaced persons and as a student in Munich.

This collection contains personal papers of Margaret Gabali Rosenfelt (1912-2005), including official documents as well as correspondence with family, German and French authorities, and her friend Rudolf Schneider, a Stuttgart architect. A diary and memoirs are also included.

This collection holds the papers of members of Margaret Strauss Berman's family in several towns in the Palatinate. It is primarily composed of personal documents, like photographs, biographical texts and a diary, and it contains also some newspaper clippings and a flyer.

The Marianne Salinger Collection comprises a broad variety of personal and professional documents pertaining to Marianne Salinger and her family. Spanning four generations, the material is clustered around individual stories of several family members and their relationships, each illustrated by different document types and genres, including personal and official letters, diaries, clippings, photographs and slides, various certificates, advertisements, restitution papers, as well as a couple of annotated books of various genres such as children's books, one cookbook, one autobiography and a language textbook. Some translations are included.

Vilma Cohn-Leven was one of 1,200 Jewish inmates of the concentration camp in Theresienstadt, who were liberated and put on a transport to Switzerland in February of 1945.

The collection contains papers including vital documents, membership cards, awards, medals, diaries, memoirs, diaries, manuscripts, legal papers, correspondence, business records, wills, genealogies and family histories regarding the Pinkus family, notable textile manufacturers in Neustadt (now Prudnik, Poland) in Upper Silesia, and their personal and business affairs. The family was also highly regarded for its support of civic and cultural affairs in the area, and corresponded with several notable cultural figures.

The Renate Bridenthal Family Collection primarily documents the lives and especially the emigration experiences of Renate Bridenthal's parents, Elchunon and Irene Rubin. Papers of Irene Rubin are prominent in the collection and include restitution correspondence and her writing. Documents related to Renate and her brother Harribald's early lives and emigration is are also present. The collection consists of extensive personal and restitution correspondence, official documents, newspaper clippings regarding Irene Rubin's death, drafts of her writing, and three albums.

The collection focuses on the wartime experiences of Rosa Traub and some of her extended family members. Included are Rosa Traub’s diary from Camp de Gurs, a photocopy of her identity card, her handwritten last will and testament, and other items, such as documents pertaining to her nephew Max Liebmann and photo negatives of Albert Einstein.

This collection contains family correspondence and employment, immigration and restitution correspondence and documents. Also included are photographs relating to Ruth Taub and her parents, Isaak and Lisette Nathan.

This collection contains material pertaining to the sociologist Werner Cahnman and his wife, the biophysicist Gisella Levi Cahnman. It primarily documents the early years and immigration of Werner Cahnman, as well as his and his wife's careers in the United States. It also illustrates the immigration of family members. Papers in this collection include a large amount of photographs, correspondence, diaries, some writings, official papers, and restitution files.

The Werner Warmbrunn Collection documents life and professional activities of Werner Warmbrunn and to a smaller extent, members of his immediate family. The collection consists of correspondence, diaries and memoirs, educational documents, printed materials, and unpublished poetry by David Warmbrunn and Werner Warmbrunn.
