Biographical / Historical

Born in 1905 in Cernauti. Philologist of Yiddish. Graduate of the YIVO's aspirantur program. Until 1945 taught in ORT and Soviet schools in Cernauti. Subsequently taught at Columbia and Yeshiva Universities. Published several important philological studies of Yiddish. Died in New York in 1994.
