Biographical / Historical
Yiddish poet, essayist. Contributed to Zukunft, Morgn-zhurnal, Tog, Oyfn shvel, Keneder odler. Born in Kolomyja, Galicia. Lived in Vienna and Paris. Was imprisoned in Dachau in the 1930s but was freed because of his military service in the Austrian army during World War I. In 1938, Taubes immigrated to England, moving to New York in 1939.
