Biographical / Historical
Physician, philologist in semitic languages. Yiddish and Hebrew playwright, poet and journalist. Member of the Jewish Legion during World War I. Held doctoral degrees in philosophy, Semitic languages, literature and Egyptology and master's degrees in diplomacy, psychology, pedagogy and art history. Wrote scholarly works on Semitic and ancient Egyptian archeology, medicine, history. Published translations of Egyptian hieroglyphics. Prepared an anthology of short stories. Contributed articles to Hatsefira (Warsaw), Moment (Warsaw), Der tog (New York), Jewish Daily Forward (New York), Yiddishes Tageblatt (New York), Morgn zhurnal (New York), Zukunft (New York), Der kundes (New York), Hadoar (New York), Harofe (New York?, Ha-ivri (New York). Born in Daugeliszki, district of Vilna. Lived in Berlin, Rome, Palestine. Settled in the U.S. circa 1920.
