Clippings of Litwin's articles relating to various topics, including: Russia, 1917-1930; Palestine and Zionism; towns and cities in Europe; landsmanshaftn; Poale Zion activities, 1915-1928; Jewish occupations; colonization and farming; Jewish holidays; Yiddish theater; education. Poems by Litwin. Photographs of personalities, towns in Europe. Correspondence with Abraham Cahan, Saul Ginsburg, Abraham Liessin, Baal Makhshoves (Isidor Eliashev), Shmuel Niger, Zalman Reisen, Sholem Aleichem, Israel Zinberg. Family correspondence.

Biographical / Historical

Pen name of Samuel Hurwitz. Yiddish journalist, editor, ethnographer, poet. Co-founder of the first Poale Zion group in Minsk. Active in the Poale Zion movement in the U.S. Born in Minsk, Byelorussia. Immigrated to the U.S. in 1901, but returned to Poland in 1904. Settled permanently in New York in 1912.
