Isaak Bergmann Family Collection

 Collection
Identifier: AR 6459

Scope and Content Note

This collection contains various materials, mostly photocopies, assembled by Jean Korn on the history of the extended family of Isaak Bergmann. The collection notably includes several original documents and photographs of the Bergmann family extending from the 19th into the late 20th century, as well as materials on the related Kristeller, Imbach, Herzmann, Badt, and Leisten families.

The original materials in this collection pertain primarily to individuals in the Bergmann and Kristeller families. The largest subgroup of original materials are the photographs in folder one. For the most part these photographs are studio portraits of individuals and groups, although a few photographs appear to be more candid shots. There are also a few more recent color photographs showing descendents of the Bergmann family. A smaller number of original papers and letters, many sent by Adolf Imbach to the Bergmanns, is present in folder two. Also in this folder are several photocopied vital documents related to the Bergmann and Kristeller families.

Most of the remaining collection also consists of photocopied documents on various relations of the Bergmanns amassed by Jean Korn during her family history research. Often these documents are accompanied by Korn's notes and translations, and occasionally some original items are mixed in. These documents are typically vital records, with some correspondence. Of note are a large number of materials on Karl Weiss, mayor of Bad Reichenhall from 1926 through the entire National Socialist regime, and his Jewish wife Margarete Bergmann.
