The Hymes Family Collection contains documents regarding the personal lives of those in the family. These documents include: a last will and testament, stock certificates, thank-you letters, a scrap album, and an autograph album containing sayings and signatures from acquaintances.

Biographical Note

Isidor Hymes was born circa 1839 in Germany. He married Elizabeth in 1870 and they immigrated to the United States in 1871. They had three daughters: Birdie, Blance, and Gussie. In Birdie Hymes' last will and testament in 1950 she bequeathed her estate to her sister, Blance. The will stated that if her sister died before her, Birdie Hymes' estate would be split between Alvah Levi and Aimée Levi, who she also appointed to be executers of her will. A sum of one-hundred dollars would be given to Lulu Hymes.
