Bernhard Sokolowski-Mirels Collection
Scope and Content Note
The Bernhard Sokolowski-Mirels Collection contains documents pertaining to the Mirels and Meyerhof families. The relationship between these families is unknown.
There is genealogical material on the Mirels family, including a paper on the complete family history, tracing its legendary beginnings back to 1025 BCE. Most of the material is research material: newspaper clippings, handwritten extracts from various sources and books on Jewish family history. Series I contains handwritten notes and Series III books on Jewish family history with notes.
The Meyerhof documents contain letters by Heinz L. Meyerhof to his mother Herta Meyerhof written during his time of internment (1939-1941) in England and Canada, postcards by his father from World War I and photographs pertaining to his family (Series II).
