Bunzl Group of Companies Collection

The Bunzl Group of Companies Collection documents the early history of the Bunzl Group, especially its financial history. The collection includes articles and reports on the history of the company, restitution documents, correspondence, newspaper clippings, and extensive annual reports, directors' reports, and employee newsletters.

The first series relates to the history of the Bunzl Group and to more recent family involvement in it. Included are reports and an article on the company history, in addition to restitution documentation that includes information on company property in Bratislava, in the former Czechoslovakia (now Slovakia).

The second series consists of documentation on individual divisions of the company and on the umbrella groups of the company (Bunzl Textile Holdings Limited and Bunzl plc). These documents provide numerous details on the financial standing and development of the company, including its expansion into various divisions and subsidiary companies. Material in this series largely relates to the subsidiary companies in Austria and the United Kingdom, although other locations are mentioned in employee publications. A significant portion of the series consists of annual reports, directors' reports and account reports that document in detail the finances of the Bunzl Group in the United Kingdom or of its divisions in the United Kingdom or Austria. Most of the correspondence of this series pertains to the sale, share or transfer of shares in the company. Some information on Hugo Bunzl is present in a memorial edition of the Lenzinger Zellulose und Papierfabrik's employee periodical of this series.
