Scope and Content Note

The collection contains documents of Ernst Beiner and his family, including documents pertaining to his studies and work in pharmacy and dentistry, family photographs, and a file of material regarding his restitution claim against Germany after World War II. Also included are documents of the family of Biener's wife Fanny Beiner née Karpf.

Folder 1 contains documents pertaining to Ernst Beiner's career as a dentist, including his license to practice as a dentist and related correspondence (1935); and correspondence pertaining to the revocation of his license on racial grounds (1937-1938). Also included is a German citizenship certificate.

Folder 2 contains certificates and letters of recommendation for Ernst Beiner's work as a pharmacy intern; and correspondence and certificate pertaining to his completion of the pharmacy preliminary and admittance to pharmacy studies. Also included are two drivers licenses for Ernst Beimer.

Folder 3 contains photographs of Ernst Beiner's family, including photographs of Ernst Beiner and a large number of photographs of his mother Margarete Beiner née Roth.

Folder 4 contains two bulletins from congregation Adass Jisroel in Berlin, Germany.

Folder 5 contains documentation pertaining to the restitution claim of Ernst Beiner and his sister Lotte Frohwirth née Beiner against Germany for property lost when their mother was deported to Auschwitz in 1943. Included are official forms and correspondence, as well as photographs.

Folder 6 contains documents pertaining to the family of Ernst Beiner's wife Fanny Beiner née Karpf. Included are mortage deeds, property lists, emigration papers, naturalization papers, and death certificates.

The oversize folder contains Ernst Beiner's doctoral diploma from the University of Cologne.
