The bulk of the collection contains vital records, professional papers, correspondence and photographs pertaining to the dentist Rudold Seegall and to the dental nurse and secretary Herta Marcuse during their common life in England.

Biographical Note
Rudolf Seegall was born 1889 in Berlin. He was a decorated field dentist for the German Army in WW I and emigrated to England in 1939, where he worked as a dentist.
Herta Marcuse (née Hertha Rapp?) was born 1887 in Germany and was trained in Switzerland and in Berlin to be a teacher, secretary, and nurse. For some time she worked in the audit firm of Hermann Berlak in Berlin. She emigrated to England and went on to the United States in 1948 to join her daughter Rita in Los Angeles, where she worked at the Jewish Home for the Aged.
