Biographical Note
Frank J. Adler was born Franz Julius Schwarzadler in Frankfurt/Main in 1923. He received his childhood religious education at Frankfurt's Westend synagogue. In 1940, he immigrated to the US and worked in Chicago, while taking college night classes. He served two years in the US army in the Southwest Pacific. In 1946, he became synagogue administrator at Temple Isaiah Israel of Chicago. In 1953 he moved to Kansas and served as the administrator of B'nai Jehudah until his retirement in 1991, when he became administrator emeritus. He also served as the president of the National Association of Temple Administrators and on the Board of Trustees of the Union of American Hebrew Congegrations and on its Executive Board.
