Scope and Content Note

The bulk of the collection consists of Felix Hepner's account books of his estates in Posen, 1885-1905, and other account books. Also included are the typed records of the Kreisbauernrat Trebnitz, the peasants’ council in the district of Trzebnica in Poland for the years 1918 to 1920, as well as miscellaneous handwritten notes on philosophy and religion from much later (1943-1944).

Biographical Note

Felix Hepner, (probably) born on June 6, 1860 to Salomon Hepner and Henrietta Lachmann, was an estate owner in the town of Heidewilxen near Obernigk in Silesia (today Wilczyn near Oborniki Śląskie, Poland). One estate was in Wongrowitz/ Posen (today Wągrowiec, Poland) and another one was in nearby Otteraue, which had its own distillery (today Otorowo, Poland). Felix Hepner was a member of the Kreisbauernrat Trebnitz, the peasants' council in the district of Trzebnica in Poland founded in November 1918, and chairman of its Executive Committee.

The collection consists mainly of Felix Hepner's account books in Posen, 1885-1905, as well as records of the peasants' council in the district of Trzebnica in Poland and some manuscripts.
