Ahlfeld-Zeitlin Family Collection

 Collection
Identifier: AR 4733

Scope and Content Note

Three volumes of Fritz Zeitlin's correspondence sent from the front, and a short notebook containing genealogical information on the Ahlfeld-Zeitlin families.

The three volumes of correspondence appear to be handwritten transcriptions of letters sent by Fritz Zeitlin to relatives while he was on active duty in the German military. The majority of the letters from 1915 were sent from Lockstedter Lager (L.L. or LoLa), a training facility in Holstein, while the 1916 letters generally list Lille and other areas on the Western front as their origination. A couple of original cards by Fritz Zeitlin are interleaved in the volumes.

Joseph Ahlfeld's notebooks contains assorted notes on various friends and relatives, with an occasional newspaper clipping or obituary inserted.
