The file contains various documents relating to Recha Freier and her activities in Youth Aliyah in Germany.

I : Various documents about Recha Freier: newspaper articles about her (1980, undated, photocopied); a play (?) about Freier and the establishment of Youth Aliya (1983); a transcript of a radio interview with Freier and her children (1984); transcripts of interviews held by Avraham Schiff-Badholf with Shalheveth Freier (Recha's son) and others; a letter from Prof. Serem Freier (son of Recha) to Dr. Schultz about his father (Recha's husband) Rabbi Dr. Moritz Freier (2001). The folder also contains an audio cassette.

II: Material pertaining to Freier's autobiography "Let the Children Come": a copy of Freier's statement to the Palestine Office in Germany (1940, with translation); excerpts from the Book in English; a version of the same events described in the book in German (undated); correspondence between the Federation of German Jews (Reichsvertretung der Deutschen Juden) and the publishers of Freier's book in England, concerning her references to Rabbi Dr. Leo Baeck (1959-1965). The folser also contains Freier's Hebrew book Yashresh (ישרש) (1953).

Bibliography

Recha Freier was born in Germany and was a Zionist, social worker and a writer. Freier established and headed the Youth Aliya movement in Germany in 1932, before escaping to Palestine in 1941. She subsequently established "Hamifal – Educational Children’s Homes" and in 1981 was awarded the Israel Prize for her lifetime activities.
