Scope and Content Note

The collection contains certificates and correspondence documenting Wilhel Salomon Freund's career as a lawyer, as well as documents pertaining to the family of his wife Clara Freund née Immerwahr.

The first folder contains documents pertaining to David Immerwahr and Caroline (Lina) Immerwahr née Silberstein, parents of Wilhelm Salomon Freund's wife Clara Freund née Immerwahr. Included is a marriage contract for David Immerwahr and Lina Silberstein; certificate and letters pertaining to Lina Immerwahr's receipt of the Order of Louise; certificate presented to Lina Immerwahr for her service during the Franco-Prussian War; letter to Lina Immerwahr from Karl Eduard von Holtei; and Lina Immerwahr's membership card for the Vaterländischer Frauenverein. An oversize folder contains a passport for David Immerwahr.

The second folder contains a variety of invitations sent to Wilhelm Salomon Freund for events such as balls and dinners. The folder also contains letters and telegrams to Freund from colleagues in the legal profession, many of which were sent to him on the occasion of his 80th birthday.

The third folder contains appointments for Wilhelm Salomon Freund for various positions within the legal profession, as well as certificates for honors including the Order of the Red Eagle, Order of the Crown, and Red Cross Medal.

The fourth folder contains condolence letters and telegrams sent to the family of Wilhelm Salomon Freund after his death in 1915, as well as an obituary.
