Scope and Content Note

The collection contains assorted items pertaining to the 20th century history of Jews in Germany and German Jews in Israel, including stamps, letters and postcards, cirulars and leaflets, and membership cards.

Folder 1 contains a collection of stamps, including pilgrim stamps (Pilgermarken) from Austria with scenes of Palestine; two stamps of the Weltsprache Verein Nürnberg; two stamps of the Berliner Zionistische Vereinigung; stamp of the Jüdischer Frauenbund Frankfurt; Jewish National Fund stamps issued in Germany between 1915 and 1947; set of ten donation stamps of the Jüdische Gemeinde zu Berlin commemorating Berlin synagogues; and 22 stamps of the Irene Harand Movement.

Folder 2 contains various documents pertaining to the history of Jews in Germany and German Jews in Israel, including a letter regarding minutes of the 9th Zionist Congress; letter regarding the Gemeindekasse Danzig; contribution form of the Reichsbund jüdischer Frontsoldaten; Czech postcard; five vouchers for Kultur- u. Sportwoche Hamburg; flyer of the Deutscher Sport-Club Berlin; certificate of departure from the B’nai B’rith Lodge Jehuda Halevi; membership card of the Deutschen Sportvereins Haifa; fundraising letter of the Vorstand der Jüdischen Gemeinde zu Berlin; telegram sent from Palestine to Munich; membership card of the Zionistischer Landesverband für Deutschösterreich; two 2-Mark notes from the Łódz ghetto; letter from Karl Drill (detained in Mauritius) to Josef Bunzl in Vienna; postcard of the Vereinigung der Verfolgten des Naziregimes; postcard welcoming Holocaust survivors to Israel; membership card of the Arbeitsgemeinschaft Israel im BDPh; cacheted envelope commemorating the liberation of Dachau; seal of the Vorstand der Jüdischen Gemeinde zu Berlin; two vouchers of the city of Jerichow; envelope sent from Berlin to Düsseldorf with stamp of the Committee for Orphanages in Palestine; booklet covers of the Jewish National Fund; picture postcard of Michelangelo's sculpture of Moses; Rosh Hashanah greeting; and statutes of the association Scha'are Zion.

Folder 3 contains photocopies of a collection of charitable contribution stamps issued by the Zentralausschuss der deutschen Juden für Hilfe und Aufbau between 1934 and 1942.

Folder 4 contains photocopies of material pertaining to the Jüdischer Nationalfonds, including circulars and leaflets.
