Rudolf Apt Collection
Scope and Content Note
Bulk of collection consists of correspondences and short manuscripts by members of the Dresden Jewish community of personal accounts of war experience. Lists and index cards describing the fate of Jews from Dresden also included.
Papers in Series I include school records, travel pass, refugee registration, World War II British flyers for personal defense. Papers for Mrs. Sophie Apt also included. Series II contains materials pertaining to the destruction and later salvation of the Dresden Jewish community and manuscripts and clippings of responses to Communist rule, 1947-1950. Series III contains cards describing fate of Dresden Jews (A-L, M-Z).

Born in Dresden July 25, 1882, died London April 19, 1978. Emigrated to England in 1939. Metal Industrialist. Administrator of Centralverein, Reichsverband Juedischer Frontsoldaten, Association for Jewish Refugees.
