Nuremberg Jewish Community Collection
Scope and Content Note
Manuscripts, photographs, newletters, clippings and other archival materials pertaining to the history of the Jewish community in Nuremberg.
Only a few items date to the prewar period, including photographs of the synagogue and the Judenstain, issues of Jewish community newspapers, and a travel brochure. Notably, there are some community announcements in folder two dating to 1939, as well as a list of survivors compiled in 1945 December, which includes both those remained or returned to Nuremberg and those who survived elsewhere. There is also a program for a memorial service for soldiers who fell during the first World War in folder 2. Other materials include deportation lists and lists of community members who lived in Nuremberg during the Nazi regime and the Holocaust. Finally, post-war materials include items on memory work and on a reunion of former members of the Nuremberg-Fürth community. In the final folder is a draft manuscript by Max Freudenthal on Joseph Süss Oppenheimer.
