Scope and Contents

This is a rather eclectic assortment of mostly printed documents, touching upon aspects of social, political and economic history in several German speaking regions in Europe. Included are pamphlets and other documents pertaining to the political history of Alsace; bonds and vouchers from Westphalia; documents dealing with the trade of grain and other products in Danzig; and a ducal decree for the government in Bavaria.

Provenance Note

Various documents from German speaking lands without any Jewish contents had been originally assembled by the LBI in the “Non-Jewish Collection”. At some later point, this collection was divided into “Materials pertaining to social, political and economic history” with the call number AR 3519, and the “Autographs collection”, AR 348.

Newspapers issues of "Frankfurter Kaiserl. Reichs-Ober-Post-Amts-Zeitung", 1788; and "Staats- und Gelehrte Zeitung des hamburgischen unpartheyischen Correspondenten", 1821, originally holding the common call number AR 3589 were removed to the LBI Library.

This collection contains mostly printed documents pertaining to the social, political and economic history in Danzig, Bavaria, Alsace and Westphalia.

The materials have been arranged by the collection’s geographic provenance.

Processing Information

The original “Non-Jewish Collection” has been divided during processing into the present “Materials pertaining to social, political and economic history” and into the separate “Autographs collection”, AR 348.
