Scope and Content Note
Dienemann's dissertation, articles and manuscripts by him on theology and Jewish history, and lecture notes for his Jewish history course during the 1930s at the Freies Juedisches Lehrhaus, Frankfurt; sermons by Dienemann, and records kept by him of rabbinical duties performed in Offenbach.
Correspondence with individuals, including Chaim Bloch, Martin Buber, Ismar Elbogen, Siegfried Guggenheim, Richard Koch, Else Lasker-Schueler, Claude Montefiore, Franz Rosenzweig, and Eduard Strauss; letters written to Dienemann by inmates of Buchenwald concentration camp.

Biographical Note
Born in Krotoschin (now Krotoszyn, Poland) on September 30, 1875, Dienemann studied at the University of Breslau and the Juedisch-theologisches Seminar, Breslau, receiving his doctorate and rabbinical ordination in 1898. He served as rabbi in Ratibor and Offenbach until his emigration to Palestine in 1938. He died in Tel Aviv on April 10, 1939.
