Biographical Note

The German historian Ermanno (Hermann) Loevinson, a brother of Johanna Meyer née Loevinson, was born in Berlin on June 3, 1863. After earning a PhD degree from Berlin University, he moved to Italy in 1895, working as assistant archivist of the royal state archives in Rome and then teaching in Bologna, publishing several books in German and in Italian.
