Hermann Ehrlich Family Collection

Scope and Content Note

The Hermann Ehrlich collection includes family trees of the Ehrlich, Rosenbaum and Romberg families. There are also hymn books and sheets of music collected by Hermann Ehrlich. The collection also includes copies of the German journal Liturgische Zeitschrift (Liturgical journal), which are to be found in Series II. There are also eulogies for various family members and friends of Hermann Ehrlich, such as his parents and Jacob Epstein. The collection also contains two photographs, one of Hermann Ehrlich and the other one of his wife Karoline.

Hermann Ehrlich was born on February 2, 1815. He was a teacher and cantor in Berkach, near Meiningen, Germany. Hermann Ehrlich was married to Karoline Ehrlich (née Romberg), who was born on April 22, 1822 and died on December 12, 1892. They had seven children. Hermann Ehrlich died on December 23, 1879.

The Hermann Ehrlich papers contain handwritten documents on the genealogy of the Ehrlich, Rosenbaum, and Romberg families, including family trees. It contains also the collected work of Hermann Ehrlich as a cantor and teacher, including hymn books and sheets of music. Furthermore there are notes on the life of Hermann Ehrlich.
