Charles and Elly Weill Collection

 Collection
Identifier: AR 6491

Scope and Content Note

This collection contains materials pertaining to the emigration of Carl and Emmy Weil from Germany and their restitution case, as well as some family correspondence and documents.

The first folder contains an extensive inventory of Karl and Elly Weil's possessions upon emigration in 1940. A large amount of correspondence and a few documents such as affidavits, all located in the third and fourth folders, also relate to the couple's emigration to New York. These folders also house a large amount of family correspondence, in part because family members who had left Germany and other relatives were involved in Carl and Elly's emigration process. In the last folder is some legal correspondence pertaining to the Weils' restitution cases. Finally, a few photographs are in folder two; the remaining photographs showing a family vacation on Rügen have been removed to the LBI Photograph Collection.
