Philipp Loewenfeld Collection
Scope and Content Note
This collection contains many of Philipp Loewenfeld's writings and speeches. Typewritten copies of 35 of his major essays and speeches are bound in 2 volumes, a total of 724 pages. 14 additional essays and speeches are collected in Series III. When in the United States, Loewenfeld was active in drafting a law concerning German disarmament. Most of the copies of Series II (but not all) have their originals in Series V. In as much as some of the originals are not too well preserved, the copies of II are a valuable addition to the collection.
Programs, broadsides and newspaper reviews in Series V also show the political activities of Loewenfeld. "Genosse Loewenfeld", "Sozialistische Alt- Akademikergruppe", "Allgemeiner Deutscher Gewerkschaftsbund" et al. Loewenfeld's explicit role in these groups is unclear.
