Biographical Note
Henry L. (Hans Lutz) Ehrlich was born 1925 in Stettin, the son of Max Ehrlich and Gerda, née Tannenwald and the older brother of Marianne (later Mary Ann Lieberstein). The family lived in Berlin before immigrating to the United States, where they first settled in Boston.
Gerda Ehrlich, née Tannenwald was the daughter of Jakob Tannenwald and Leonore, née Jessel from Stettin. Her father died 1935 in Berlin; her mother perished 1941 in the Lodz Ghetto, when the Ehrlich family could not secure an affidavit for her emigration. Gerda’s sister Alice Gumpert and her family emigrated to Palestine.
