Gerard Field Family Collection
Scope and Content Note
By and large the Gerard Field Family Collection consists of materials pertaining to Anne Prower, neé Hanau with materials dealing with other family members constituting just a fraction of the collection.
Included in the collection are clippings, correspondence, manuscripts, documents, photographs, slides, printed materials and 8 mm films.
The larger segment of the collection consists of media materials, such as photographs, slides, and 8 mm films, containing images of friends and family members, documenting trips and vacations, and images of art objects such as sculptures (most likely these were made by Anne Prower).
Also included in the collection is Anne Prower’s correspondence, personal and professional, which includes correspondence with organization and individuals regarding Anne Prower’s participation in various art events as well as regarding donations of her works to synagogues and other places.
Other materials include a number of personal materials of great diversity such as documents, vital and other, printed materials, sketches, manuscripts, notes, and journals.
There are some sketches here, however most of them belong to Gerard Field’s quill and were made during his childhood.

Biographical Note
Anne Prower, née Hanau was born on March 27th, 1906 in Germany. Along with her husband, Edgar Blumenfeld and their son Gerard, they escaped from Germany in the late 1930s to the United States, via Portugal. They settled in Chicago where Anne Prower continued her successful career as an artist.
She died in Laguna Hills, California in 1997.
