Freund Family Collection, Gross-Strehlitz

 Collection
Identifier: AR 6485

Scope and Content Note

The collection comprises primarily documents regarding the legal battle of the Freund family to receive restitution for losses during World War II.

In the first folder are a couple of documents and passports indirectly related to some of the family's emigration, as well as a letter sent by a family member from prison. The rest of the collection consists entirely of various applications, legal documents, reproductions of vital documents, affidavits, and correspondence with German authorities, all amassed during restitution claims. The chief claim concerns the estate of the family patriarch Elkan Weiss, cotton textile wholesaler in Breslau who was deported and executed in 1942.
