Lepehne-Jastrow Family Collection

 Collection
Identifier: AR 6629

Scope and Content Note

This collection contains an itemized assemblage of documents, correspondence, clippings, genealogical tables, and photographs illustrating the history of the Lepehne and Jastrow families.

The materials were assembled into a single binder by Ingrid Heinzerling, a descendant of the Lepehne-Jastrow families, as a genealogical and historical research tool. The overwhelming majority of the items are photocopies and inkjet prints, although a few original items are present, including Paul Lepehne's will from 1938, which also documents the Aryanization of his estate, some photographs, and a commemorative program from Paul and Helene Lepehne's wedding anniversary. Among the photocopies, materials include citizenship and honorary certificates, legal, vital, and real estate documents, postcards, including cards from the front during World War I and from the Theresienstadt concentration camp, and some restitution documents filed after the second World War. There is also a substantial amount of reference materials, including maps and excerpts from encyclopedias and similar reference works.
