The collection documents the immigration to New York City of Sophie and Fritz Herrmann, her parents Chaim and Pauline Mandel, and his mother Gertrud Herrmann, which had led them through Belgium, France, Cuba, and Venezuela. Documents include passports and other identity records, as well as various official documents and a few photographs.

Biographical Note
Sophie Regina Herrmann, née Mandel was born on April 30, 1912 in Antwerp, Belgium, the daughter of Chaim Hersch Mandel (November 16, 1880 in Preszow, Poland) and his wife Pauline née Kroll (July 24, 1886 in Krakow).
Sophie was married to Fritz Herrman (later Frederic Herman), born July 13, 1911 in Prenzlau, the son of Max Herrmann and his wife Gertrud née Pinczower (October 20, 1884 in Klein Zabrze).
