Scope and Content Note

This collection contains correspondence and two manuscripts by Alfred Julius Bruck about the Bruck family history.

Folder one contains an exchange of letters between Alfred Bruck and Hilde Blum regarding the Bruck family tree. There are two manuscripts in folder two, The Bruck family : A historical sketch (1946) and The Bruck family : A historical sketch of a Jewish Family through a Thousand Years (1951). The 1946 manuscript contains an introduction, bibliographic information, and geneaological tables. This manuscript also includes detailed information in both German and English regarding family origins, the Jewish community in Venice, the history of Jewish Prague, the Jews of Vienna, the history of Jews in Silesia, and their subsequent exodous and migration routes. The 1951 manuscript is an abbreviated version including reference notes, genealogical tables, information regarding the family's origins and information on family names, professions, emancipation and emigration throughout history.
