Biographical Note

Fred (Siegfried) Sternberg (August 3, 1911, Herborn, Germany – 1997, Flagler, Florida) was the son of Max and Ida Sternberg (née Fuchs), who owned a textile business. Fred left Germany in August 1936 for Buenos Aires, to one of Baron de Hirsch's settlements, and stayed for five years. In 1942, his sister Betti and his parents had immigrated to the United States, and soon after Fred joined them in New York he enrolled in the U.S. army. He married Fanny Ullmann on November 11, 1945.

Fanny Sternberg née Ullmann (May 16, 1914, Gelnhausen, Germany -- July 05, 2001, Palm Coast, Florida) left Gelnhausen in 1932 to study nursing in Cologne. She immigrated to the United States in 1937 with help from her uncle Louis Kramer, a lawyer, who had immigrated earlier.
