Identifier: AR 2994

Scope and Content Note

Container list:

This collection contains Leopold Kraemer's certification documents as a teacher and cantor, professional recommendations, and liturgical sheet music.

In the first folder are professional documents, including teacher certification materials from the Jüdische Lehrer-Bildungsanstalt zu Berlin, as well as a number of professional references related to his employment in Chemnitz and La Paz, Bolivia. These latter materials appear to have been amassed when he moved from La Paz to Santiago de Chile. Also in this folder is a military wage book from his service during the first World War. The oversized folder contains printed and handwritten (transcribed) sheet music, primarily works by notable German-Jewish liturgical composers such as Eduard Birnbaum, Emil Dworzan, Ferdinand Hummel, Jacob Meisel, and Emanuel Kirschner.
