Biographical Note

Dr. Ludwig Schwarzschild, his wife Grete (née Riesenfeld?), and their children Martin and Lore left Germany for Paris in 1933. He became involved with OSE, the French aid organization for refugee children (Œuvre de Secours aux Enfants), and in 1934 he embarked on a mission to Addis-Ababa. The family immigrated to the US in 1940.
