Frederick Rosenbaum Collection
Scope and Content Note
This collection contains correspondence and documents related to the adoption by an American couple of a Jewish orphan from Nazi Germany.
The first folder holds the correspondence between Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Rosenbaum in New York with the Zentrale für jüdische Pflegestellen und Adoptionsvermittlung ("Central Office for Jewish Foster Homes and Adoption") and American consular authorities in Germany, which documents the Rosenbaums' adoption of the orphan Hans Frank, later named Frederick Roger Rosenbaum. In addition to the correspondence, there are documents such as affidavits and a few other items related to the adoption and emigration of the child. Some of the correspondence also deals with the process of putting the child on a Kindertransport to Holland prior to his emigration to the United States. The second folder contains reproductions of a few marriage records and family papers collected by Rosenbaum in his efforts to find information on his birth family.
