Dagobert Sabatzky Collection

 Collection
Identifier: AR 7222

Scope and Content Note

The collection comprises cataloguesand correspondence of Jewish book dealers and publishers and clippings on Jewish subjects from 1930s.

Of particular interest is a letter in folder 1 from the Stella Verlag in Prague asking Jewish book dealers in Germany to take books by Jewish authors off its hands, since such books were not popular among Sudeten Germans. Folder contains catalogs and advertisements of the influential Schocken publishing house, and folder three contains similar materials and correspondence with other publishing houses, book dealers, and Jewish ritual object dealers in Germany. The final folder features clippings, mostly from the Jüdische Rundschau, on the Jewish book trade, Jewish affairs in Palestine and other matters.
