David Berger Collection

 Collection
Identifier: AR 6471

Scope and Content Note

This collection contains various typescript translations and speeches by the translator David Berger.

The translations, the majority from German to English, represent a wide range of topics, from literary writings to critical theory, reportage to historical writings. A large group of the translations discuss European Jewish culture, both historical and contemporary. Similarly, many of the Berger's transcribed speeches concern Jewish history and culture. Most of these manuscripts and translations are typescript, many with handwritten corrections and alterations; some are reproductions, including a few offprints. In the first folder are also two family history manuscripts on the Berger and Drimer families from 1860 to the present. The final folder contains offprints of article and texts of speeches by Berger's brother, Abraham Berger.
