Biographical Note
Mr. Kramer was an author of German children folklore. Mr. Kramer's children came to the US.
Simon Kramer was born in 1808 in Schnaittach, Bavaria. He graduated from a teacher's training school in 1828 and started tutoring. His son Max was offered an apprenticeship in Chicago by a former pupil. Some of his other children followed and immigrated to the US during the 1840s and 1850s. He took up writing later in his life and also wrote a memoir, which is in the LBI library. He died in 1887.
